Christian Education

Mission: The mission of the Christian Education Committee of Bethel Lutheran Church is to nurture the spiritual development of people in all age groups.

Objectives: The principal objectives therefore will be:

1. To provide a comprehensive, age appropriate education program about the Bible
2. To provide education on Lutheranism and the Book of Concord, especially Luther’s Small Catechism.
3. To provide an educational program about ethical issues of our time
4. To provide educational programming on other topics of interest to the church.
5. To promote and encourage participation in educational offerings of the synod and appropriate ecumenical entities.

 
We offer a variety of class to meet the needs of all.

Sunday School is a seven-year program (pre-k through grade 5) that focuses on teaching the basics of the Lutheran faith in preparation for Confirmation.  Our goals include:

1. Bible Literacy
2. Use of Prayer (specifically Lords’ Prayer)
3. Apostles’ Creed
4. Ten Commandments
5. Stewardship (Using our gifts and talents to serve the Lord)
6. Teaching that Jesus loves us.

Confirmation is a four-year faith journey for young people in grades 6-9 that culminates in the public Affirmation of (their) Baptism.  Our goals are for students to have significant knowledge of:

1. Major Themes of the Old Testament
2. Outline of the Main Themes of Jesus’ Passion
3. Revelation (Paul)
4. All Five Parts of the Small Catechism

To accomplish classes will be comprised of:
1 year focused on the Old Testament
1 year on the New Testament
1 year on Lutheran doctrine (including the Small Catechism)
1 year of monthly meetings plus participation on a committee and the support of a mentor.

Vacation Bible School:  Is a weeklong program with games, crafts, music, snacks and so much more!  VBS is held in late July from 9 am to 12 noon. Please check our home page for updates!
